DESCRIPTION:& NRE\n\nSeptember 6-8\, 2024\nPawtuckaway State Park\, N.H. \nThanks to NH Dept. of Natural and Cultural Resources \nThis weekend will have all the Camping Weekend experiences that you have come to expect\, plus an NRE (National Ranking Event) on Saturday. The same courses will also be available ‘recreational’ on Saturday for those who want to go in groups\, do a short white\, or just don’t want to do the NRE. \nPlease see EventReg for details\, costs\, and to register for all events\, including camping and dinner. There is an extra $5.00 fee per course for registering after September 3\, including the weekend of the event. This late fee also applies to UNO members. \n\nUpdate: Sept. 4\, 2024 \n\nNotes for pre-registered competitors\nCourse setters’ notes\n\n\nThe Orienteering \n\nMap Scale: 1:7500 for SW (a subset of white)/W/Y/Brown Y (Tan- a shorter Brown)/Brown X. 1:10000 for Orange/Green/Red/ Blue. 5M contour intervals\nE-punching will be used for all regular orienteering courses\, including WHNO.\nPin punching for Canoe-O and Vampire-O\nInstruction available.\n\nSATURDAY- NRE and Local Event: Ernst Linder\, Course Setter/ Jim Arsenault\, Vetter. SW/W/Y- Lex and Pete Bundschuh \n\nSI Air will be enabled for the NRE (except White and Yellow)\nSW/W/Y- start at pavilion\nAll courses finish at pavilion.\nStarts: 10:00 AM—1:00 PM.\nNo start times assigned. There will be someone at the starts to make sure people on same course don’t start within 2 minutes\, take your name\, and write down an estimated start time (so we know who actually started).\nMaps: For NRE- don’t look at your map until you are ‘on the clock’. Maps will be upside-down in boxes labeled by course. They will be sealed in map cases.\nException: W/Y NRE participants may discuss their map/ routes/ plans with a parent/ coach/ etc. ‘off the clock’ (before starting).\nFor recreational (non NRE) participant\, you may look at maps prior to your start.\nControl Description will be on the maps and available at the starts (except White and Yellow- only on map).\nClear and check will be at the starts.\nYou must report to the finish by 4:00 PM.\n\nSUNDAY- Local Event: Deb Humiston\, Course Setter/ Bob Kilham\, Vetter. SW/W/Y- Lex and Pete \n\nStarts and finishes at the pavilion\nStarts: 9:00 AM—12:00 Noon\nSI Air will likely not be enabled for this day.\nMaps will be in boxes at start. Feel free to look at it prior to starting.\nMap cases will be available at start.\nControl Description will be on the maps and available at the starts (except White and Yellow- only on map).\nSelf-serve start.\nThere will be a list with all pre-registered people. Make sure you write an estimated start time next to your name and cross it off when you finish. Waivers available for download\, and at the event. Alternatively\, you can pre-register each person individually on EventReg.\n\nTECHNICAL DIRECTOR for Saturday and Sunday- Jim Arsenault \nPAYMENT- At the event we can only take cash or check. We apologize for any inconvenience. \nThe Camping \n\nGroup Camping area Friday and Saturday nights. This is where the event center is located.\nCost: $10 per adult and $5 per child (6-17 years) per night.\nPlease stop at the gatehouse for a parking pass. Your name will be on a list if you have registered for camping.\nThese sites are in the woods around the Group Camping Pavilion (the event center). You can drive your car near your site to unload\, then park in the parking lot. If you have a camper or pop-up\, or want to stay somewhere else in the park\, please contact Reserve America directly (1-877-647-2757\, or through the NH State Parks web site).\nBathrooms are on site. Showers are a short drive.\nOf course\, you can also come for one or both days without camping. The Park will  charge their usual day use fee for non-campers.\n\nThe Dinner: Michelle and Darrell Scott \n\nUNO Camping Weekend has a Saturday Night Pot Luck tradition. The meet organizers will provide hot dogs\, hamburgers\, veggie burgers and dessert (the traditional smores). Condiments\, plates\, cups and plastic ware are also provided. Everyone is asked to bring the potluck fare to share. Last names letters: A-L: please bring a salad; letters M-Z: please bring an appetizer. Everyone: BYO beverages.\n5:00 Pot Luck appetizers\n5:45 Dinner\n\nCanoe-O: Pete and Lex Bundschuh \n\nSaturday: Starts 10:00 AM—4:00 PM; off the water by 5:00 PM.\nSunday: Starts: 8:00 AM—1:00 PM; off the water by 2:00 PM.\n60 minutes time limit (score-O format – get checkpoints in any order).\nControls are Blue and Yellow streamer tape with a pin punch.\nSelf-serve. Sign out/ sign in/ record time and score on poster at pavilion.\nStart and finish at pavilion (time is from when you leave to when you return to the start)\, with boats at canoe launch nearby.\nBring your canoe/ kayak\, rent one nearby\, or wait to borrow one.\nSame course all weekend.\n\nVampire-O: Countess Tracey and Count Steve Olafsen \n\nJoin this now famous family-friendly night-time event. Vampire-O is a blend of flashlight tag\, orienteering\, and fun!\n45 minutes score-O format (get the markers in any order).\nBring a watch and headlamp/ flashlight.\n7:30 Gather at pavilion\n7:45 Mass start\nShortly after 8:30\, whenever the Count and Countess are ready\, the much anticipated\, PRIZES.\n\n“Wicked Hard Night-O” and “Not-So-Wicked Hard Night-O”: Jim Arsenault \n\nYou should be able to comfortably complete advanced courses (Brown/higher) in daylight\, and must have two independent lights. Due to timing\, you can’t do this and Vampire-O.\n8:10 Gather at pavilion.\n8:20 Walk to start for mass start.\n\nSafety \n\nBring a whistle.\nWater will be on Orange-and-above courses Saturday. No water on courses Sunday.\nMake sure you clear and check your e-punch (SI stick) prior to starting.\nUse (punch) the Start box to start your course.\nMake sure you download (check in) at the results area/ computer station – even if you do not finish your course.\nIf you have a cold/ fever/ or are not feeling well\, please stay home.
