Recreational Courses

We had two wonderful fall days for the recreational event held in conjunction with the US Masters’ Championships (also known as the Older Dash) at Gunstock Mountain. Many folks who were here with friends or family competing in the championships told us how much they appreciated that UNO had a recreational event as well, particularly with all in proximity to the national venue.

The recreational courses had many of the same controls as the national event with 1 or 2 linking controls. Thus thanks for the courses go mainly to Ernst Linder (Saturday) and JJ Cote (Sunday), with me adding the linking controls.

A first for UNO was a ‘Rocket Course’- think very short (300-500m) score-O. Many young ones did this several times, timing each other, trying to best their fastest time. Thanks to Wendy Johnecheck for guiding me in having this fun course.

Thanks go to Eva Ruutopold and Pete Bundschuh for help at the recreation tent- happily doing anything necessary to make the event a success.
